Chinese manufacturer OnePlus has brought good news for its fans and users. In September, the company had announced a kind of campaign on its official forum, called IDEAS, which allowed fans to give their ideas for improving OxygenOS, OnePlus' operating system based on Android. Now, the top 7 ideas have been chosen by OnePlus and can help improve OxygenOS.
How does IDEAS work?
OnePlus' idea is basically to allow fans from its community to get involved in choosing ideas to improve the device's operating system. According to the manufacturer, users make their suggestions through the forum and in each round, which is held every week, the 7 best suggestions are reviewed and chosen based on the number of likes they receive. The adopted ideas are then implemented and released for OnePlus devices worldwide. It seems that the manufacturer really invests a lot in its relationship with users.
The top 7 ideas from this second round, dubbed “IDEAS 2.0,” have already been chosen and will undergo a review process and internal discussion. Whoever wins and has their suggestion implemented in the operating system will also be eligible for a VIP invitation to a OnePlus event, including round-trip airfare and accommodation.
Among the 7 selected ideas are:
- Lock screen customization;
- Separate audio volumes for each application;
- Transfer files from OnePlus to computer and vice versa;
- Dual Audio on Bluetooth;
- Customizable battery level;
- Preventing screen burn (i.e., an image becoming ghosted) by invisible pixel shift;
- Implementation of Back Tap, as in iOS 14. This feature turns the entire back of the phone into a “button”, creating functions based on tapping it with your finger.
Despite already being present in 34 countries and regions, the manufacturer's phones have not yet been launched in Brazil and the only way to get one here is by importing it. The OnePlus OxygenOS IDEAS contest is only open to Indian users. But we hope the trend catches on among other manufacturers.
