The second generation of one of Samsung's foldable smartphones should arrive sooner than expected. Despite some rumors on Twitter indicating a launch in the second half of 2021, it seems that the Galaxy Z Flip 2 will arrive in the second quarter of next year (2021).
This means that it is quite likely that Samsung will launch two smartphone lines in the first half of 2021. The first is the Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus, already confirmed for January. The next launch will likely be the Galaxy Z Flip 2.
What can we expect with the Galaxy Z Flip 2?
So far, Samsung hasn't revealed much information about this foldable smartphone model. Therefore, it is possible to at least expect the model to be compatible with 5G connectivity.
There are two reasons why we believe that the Galaxy Z Flip 2 will have the new mobile data standard. The current-generation Galaxy Z Flip hit the market in February this year. However, a 5G variant was launched in August.
Furthermore, the Galaxy Z Flip is not the only foldable smartphone from the South Korean manufacturer. In addition to this line, the Fold line is in its second generation, after a troubled launch of the first model.

The second generation of the Galaxy Fold also has 5G connectivity. In other words, it is unlikely that the next foldable phone will not be compatible with the new mobile data standard.
What specifications would it have?
As we mentioned, there is almost no information about this model. In other words, it gives us room to imagine what its specifications would be. To do this, we will take as a basis the Galaxy ZFlip 5G and Galaxy Z Fold2 5G.
Both are powered by Qualcomm's 865nm Snapdragon 7+ processor, with the Adreno 650 GPU. This is the latest model of the chipset.
Qualcomm usually unveils its next-generation processors in December. However, Covid-19 could change those plans.
Still, it's unlikely that the next model will use the next generation of processors, even if they are revealed as usual.
Speaking of RAM and storage, the Fold2 hit the market with 256 GB and 512 GB models, but with the same 12 GB memory. The Flip comes in a single model, with 256 GB of storage and 8 GB of RAM.
For the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 2, we may see models with 512 GB and 12 GB of RAM. However, we do not rule out the possibility of a 256 GB model. In other words, with the same specifications as the already launched Z Fold 2.
Unless Samsung plans to make the Z Flip 2 a more affordable option, then it's not impossible that the 256GB and 8GB RAM option could be a more viable alternative.
In conclusion, it would have specifications quite close to the Z Fold 2.
When is the next Samsung event?
Samsung's last event was in September of this year, in which she revealed the Galaxy Note 20 and its Ultra version. The company's next event does not yet have a date, but it should focus on the Galaxy S21.
Still, there is a small possibility that the company will reveal more details about the Galaxy Z Flip 2, its mysterious foldable phone.
