Acer has just launched a new Google Assistant-powered smart speaker that is (personally) pretty cute. According to the company, the idea is that the Acer Halo speaker, “blend in – or stand out” in the decoration of any home.

To start, an interesting feature of Acer’s Halo smart speaker is its RGB lighting on the base of the device. With it, the user can synchronize the lights with the music. They can also choose between several color schemes, depending on the time of day. In other words, you can set up a discotheque in your home.

Secondly, the Acer Halo also features two omnidirectional far-field microphones (a type of microphone that picks up ambient sounds) and a physical button to turn them off.

Additionally, Acer’s speaker is the first Google Assistant speaker to feature DTS Sound, a multi-channel audio technology. DTS Sound delivers “high-quality audio projected in 360 degrees to fill any room.”

Another feature of the Acer Halo speaker is an optional LED display, which can show information such as time, temperature, and the current weather.

According to Acer, they are creating an app to personalize the display with a small message or “simple image”.

In addition to the Halo, Acer announced two more products today: the Chromebook Spin 513 and Chromebook Enterprise Spin 513, two notebooks with the highly anticipated Snapdragon 7c processing platform.

Some of the advantages of the 7c processors: battery life of up to 14 hours and support for LTE technology, the fourth generation of high-speed wireless internet.
