Last year, Samsung presented The Sero, a TV that can be used horizontally or vertically. Now, the Korean company is launching the TV in the United States and the United Kingdom. It was created specifically for smartphone users to watch vertical videos on a larger screen.
The 43-inch TV features QLED technology and upscales videos of any resolution to 4K. The TV also has a 4.1 sound system with 60-watt speakers and Dolby Digital Plus.
The Sero has a light sensor to automatically adjust its lighting to suit your surroundings. When not in use, it can display 50 vertical backgrounds created by Samsung, or use the Ambient Mode+ feature to attempt to replicate the environment you’re in.
To connect a Galaxy smartphone, simply place the device on the base of the TV. Once connected, simply turn the smartphone vertically or horizontally so that the TV follows the movement, and thus can display the video without the black bars on the sides. The screen can also be rotated using a voice command, the remote control or Samsung's SmartThings app.
Additionally, the TV is also compatible with AirPlay 2, so you can play content from your iPhone, iPad or Mac. The Sero is compatible with Samsung's Bixby assistant, as well as Amazon's Alexa and Google Assistant.
The TV has an integrated stand and wheels to make it easy to move from one place to another.
In the US, the Sero TV will cost $1999, or around R$10715, while in the UK, it will cost £1599 (R$10704).
