Anatel will simplify product certification during the pandemic

Anatel announced yesterday (27/04) that it is simplifying product certification due to the new coronavirus pandemic. The goal is to issue approvals within 10 days after receipt, but this should only occur in cases where there are no requirements. With Anatel's decision, companies will be able to continue launching new products normally.

In early March, the agency decided to exempt companies from submitting any documents other than the manufacturer's declaration. One of the reasons for the change is that some entities that are part of the evaluation process are dedicating themselves to fighting Covid-19. These include laboratories and certification bodies.

These initiatives include the development of respirators, which are essential for treating severe cases of coronavirus. In addition, some entities are providing free and indefinite maintenance on respirators in Unicamp's equipment park.

Medical equipment is also being tested, in some cases free of charge. Finally, several organizations have adopted remote work for their employees when possible, or with all precautions taken for work that requires face-to-face work.

Anatel's measure is provisional and is valid for equipment that has a validity certificate that was valid between March 6 and June 30 of this year. As soon as conditions allow, the agency should return to the normal product certification process.
