Nubia's Red Magic 5G gaming smartphone was launched in China in March, and is now making its way to other markets. Its biggest highlight and differentiator is the 144Hz refresh rate of its display, something that will certainly please gamers, but it also has other very interesting features.
The AMOLED display is 6,65 inches and has a Full HD+ resolution (1080 x 2340 pixels). In addition to its impressive refresh rate, the screen has a sampling rate of 240Hz. It also has an integrated fingerprint reader. The front camera is 8 megapixels, and is located on the top edge of the device.
The processor is a Snapdragon 865, and it has versions with 8 or 12 GB of RAM (LPDDR5) and 128 or 256 GB of capacity (with UFS 3.0 flash memory). In addition, in China it also has a version with 16 GB of RAM.
The 4500 mAh battery has 55-watt charging, but only with the dedicated charger. The device is 9,75 mm thick and weighs 218 grams.
The triple camera module has a 64-megapixel main camera with an IMX686 sensor and F/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro sensor.
Fan and top buttons
This gaming phone also has a small internal fan to dissipate heat, called Turbo Fan 3.0 by Nubia. This allows air to enter through one side of the smartphone and exit through the other. It has top gaming buttons on the side, which are touch-sensitive with a sampling rate of 300Hz.
On the side it also has connectors for use with a dock that charges the smartphone and has Ethernet connectivity. Another detail is the physical button that activates its gamer mode quickly and easily.
The Red Magic 5 runs Android 10 with the Red Magic OS interface.
The price for the version with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of capacity (available in black and soon in red) is US$ 579, or around R$ 2997. The version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of capacity (in the Pulse color, with blue on one side and red on the other) is US$ 649, or R$ 3359.
